Villovieco

Villovieco is a small hamlet in the province of Palencia, Castilla y León, situated on the Ucieza river on the Camino Frances between Población de Campos and Villalcázar de Sirga. The settlement has a quiet agricultural character with traditional stone farmhouses and poplar groves on the river corridor.

The Ucieza river provides a small but welcome watercourse in the flat Campos terrain, with the riverside path offering a brief natural corridor between the canal towpath stages. The surrounding landscape is the open Palencia plain with cereal fields and the characteristic wide sky of the Tierra de Campos.

For pilgrims, Villovieco is a short passage point on the approach to Villalcázar, notable primarily for the Ucieza river crossing and the poplar grove character.
