Description

Edit

Playa de Berria is a beach on the Santoña peninsula in Cantabria, on the northern Atlantic-facing shore of the peninsula opposite the estuary side. The beach is a long sandy arc backed by a dune system and a belt of maritime pine forest, with the rocky mass of the Peña de Santoña rising dramatically at the eastern end of the bay.

The combination of the dune-backed beach, the pine forest belt, and the prominent fortress rock gives Berria a distinctive setting within the Cantabrian coast. The beach is protected and unspoiled, with the surrounding natural landscape preserved as part of the Santoña marshes natural park.

The Camino del Norte route on the Santoña peninsula passes near or through this beach environment on the section toward Noja.
