Description
Peruscallo is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Frances between Rente and Brea. The hamlet has a dispersed farmstead character in the enclosed green terrain typical of the Lugo interior.
The surrounding landscape combines oak and eucalyptus woodland with green pasture on the gently rolling terrain. The eucalyptus plantations introduced from the twentieth century onwards are a characteristic feature of the Galician countryside, their distinctive peeling bark and eucalyptus scent familiar to pilgrims on this section.
For pilgrims, Peruscallo is a passage point on the rolling green stages between Sarria and Portomarin, the pleasant enclosed quality of the terrain consistent with the character of the first post-Sarria stages.
