Description
Corcubión is a town and municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, situated on the southern shore of the Cee-Corcubión ría opposite Cee. The town has a compact historic centre with a medieval character, centred on the Gothic church of San Marcos and retaining sections of its original town wall and several historic stone townhouses.
The church of San Marcos is one of the more architecturally significant medieval buildings on the Costa da Morte, with Gothic arches and carved details from its fifteenth-century construction. The town’s position on the sheltered ría shore gives it a maritime character combined with the historic stone fabric of a medieval Galician port town.
For pilgrims on the Fisterra route, Corcubión is one of the last significant historic towns before the final stage to the cape.
