Description

Edit

Capilla de Santa Marina de Buspol is a small wayside chapel in the municipality of Grandas de Salime, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route above the Navia valley. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Marina, a popular saint in Asturias and Galicia associated with rural communities, and occupies a solitary position in the mountain terrain above Grandas de Salime.

Small mountain chapels of this type are characteristic of the devotional landscape of the Asturian and Galician sierra, providing pilgrims and local communities with a point of spiritual focus at a remote high-altitude site. The palm branch symbol of Saint Marina’s martyrdom gives the chapel a recognisable iconographic identity.
