Arcozelo

Arcozelo is a parish in the municipality of Ponte de Lima, in the Viana do Castelo district. It occupies the north bank of the Lima river downstream from the town of Ponte de Lima, where the valley begins to widen toward the coastal plain.

The settlement is surrounded by the traditional Minho agricultural landscape: vine pergolas on granite posts, maize and vegetable plots, and stone farmhouses with external granite staircases. The Lima is close enough to influence the local microclimate, giving the area a humid, lush quality.

Arcozelo lies on the Camino Português north of the Lima crossing, on the section of the route that follows the river valley toward the coast before turning inland again toward Viana do Castelo.
