Description
Angueira de Suso is a small locality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia. De Suso indicates the upper of two settlements sharing the name, positioned on higher terrain. The locality lies in the final rural corridor approaching Santiago de Compostela, where the route passes through the last Galician farmland before the suburban and urban parishes of the city begin.
The settlement has a modest character with stone farmhouses and small cultivated plots, typical of the outer Santiago parishes. Older stone construction and garden plots persist alongside newer residential development.
For pilgrims, Angueira de Suso is one of the final rural waypoints before the emotional and physical climax of the pilgrimage at the Santiago cathedral.
