Airexe

Airexe is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino Frances between Ligonde and Palas de Rei. The hamlet has a compact stone character in the open plateau terrain of the Lugo interior.

The surrounding landscape is the rolling open farmland typical of the plateau stage between Portomarin and Palas de Rei, with scattered oak woodland and green pasture providing the characteristic visual texture. The route passes through a series of small farming communities on this gently rolling plateau.

For pilgrims, Airexe is a quiet passage point on the approach to Palas de Rei, the plateau character providing an open contrast with the enclosed valley stages of the earlier Galician sections.
