Trasvía

Trasvía is a small locality in the municipality of Val de San Vicente, in Cantabria, situated on the inland terrain between Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera. The name may relate to travesía, meaning a crossing or passage, suggesting the locality’s function as a crossing point on the road network.

The surrounding terrain is the enclosed green valley landscape of the western Cantabrian interior, with pasture, mixed woodland, and the traditional stone farmhouses of the area. The route through Trasvía on the Camino del Norte crosses the inland valley before the route rejoins the coastal terrain approaching the Bío estuary and San Vicente de la Barquera.
