Description
Santullán is a locality in the municipality of Castro Urdiales, in Cantabria, situated on the clifftop terrain between Otañes and Castro Urdiales. The village occupies elevated coastal ground with views over the bay and the Gothic church of Santa María on the Castro Urdiales headland visible ahead.
The surrounding terrain carries the typical Cantabrian coastal scrub of gorse, heather, and low woodland, with the cliff edge to the north and the protected bay of Castro Urdiales opening to the west. The Camino del Norte descends from Santullán into the town of Castro Urdiales on one of the most visually rewarding approaches of the Cantabrian coast section.
