Rertuerto

Retuerto is a locality in the municipality of Baracaldo, in the province of Bizkaia in the Basque Country, situated on the left bank of the Nervión river between Bilbao and the industrial municipality of Baracaldo. The area is part of the historically industrial left bank of the Nervión, which was the heart of Basque steel and iron production from the nineteenth century onward.

The landscape here is urban and industrial in character, with the river, bridges, and the remnants of the heavy industrial infrastructure that once made this corridor the engine of the Basque economy. The Camino del Norte passes through this industrial urban environment on the left-bank route toward Baracaldo and Sestao.
