Description

Edit

Pola de Allande is the administrative capital of the municipality of Allande, in Asturias, situated in the valley of the Nisón river in western Asturias. The town is the principal service centre on the Camino Primitivo between Tineo and the Galician border, positioned at the lowest and most accessible point of the high mountain stage.

The historic centre has a medieval tower, the Torre del Conde or similar defensive structure, and a compact market town character. The weekly market and the town’s facilities provide the main services for the surrounding rural municipality and for pilgrims arriving from the demanding mountain crossing.

For pilgrims on the Camino Primitivo, Pola de Allande is a critical rest stop after one of the most exhausting mountain stages, before the route climbs again toward Grandas de Salime and the Asturian-Galician border.
