Playa La Arena

Playa La Arena is a beach in the municipality of Muskiz, in the province of Bizkaia in the Basque Country, situated on the coast west of the Nervión estuary. The beach is a broad sandy bay backed by dunes and coastal vegetation, offering a significant stretch of Atlantic shore between the industrial landscape of the estuary zone and the more rugged clifftop terrain continuing westward toward Cantabria.

The beach is flanked to the east by the headland of Punta Lucero, which carries the infrastructure of the Nervión estuary entrance, and opens westward toward the more rural coastal terrain. The Camino del Norte passes close to or along the beach on this section of the route.
