Perosinho

Perosinho is a parish in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, in the Porto district. Positioned on elevated terrain south of the Douro, the parish offers views across the river valley and the urban mass of Porto on the opposite bank. The slopes here carry the outer edge of the Douro wine region, with vine terraces cut into the hillsides above the valley floor.

The settlement has a mix of older stone construction and more recent residential development, reflecting the gradual urbanisation of the Gaia hillside parishes. Agricultural plots and vineyard remnants persist among the newer housing.

For pilgrims, Perosinho represents one of the last elevated viewpoints before the route descends into the dense urban environment of Vila Nova de Gaia and the river crossing into Porto.
