Pernus

Pernus is a small locality in the municipality of Colunga or the adjacent Villaviciosa area, in Asturias, situated in the valley terrain between Colunga and Villaviciosa. The area is within the cider-producing heartland of Asturias, where apple orchards on the valley slopes supply the natural cider industry concentrated around Villaviciosa.

The surrounding landscape has the enclosed green quality of the Asturian interior valleys, with apple orchards, mixed woodland, and the pasture terrain typical of the dairy-farming zone that underlies the cider culture of this region. The route through Pernus on the Camino del Norte follows the valley corridor connecting the coastal sections of the stage.
