Description

Edit

Naves is a small locality in the municipality of Llanes, in Asturias, situated between the coastal clifftop terrain and the inland valley approaches on the western section of the Llanes municipality. The name may relate to nave, meaning the central aisle of a church, or more likely to a pre-Latin toponym.

The surrounding landscape has the characteristic humid Atlantic quality of the eastern Asturian coast interior: green enclosed valleys, mixed woodland, and the exposed heath of the clifftop. The coastal path through Naves on the Camino del Norte offers the alternating panoramic and enclosed character typical of this stretch of the route.
