Mompía

Mompía is a small locality in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Bezana, in Cantabria, situated in the coastal hinterland between Santander and the Piélagos coast. The village occupies the typical Cantabrian coast interior terrain of green enclosed valleys, pasture, and mixed woodland with the cliff coast accessible to the north.

The settlement has a modest residential and agricultural character, representing the quieter rural fabric that persists between the urban zones of Santander and the coastal resort areas further west. The surrounding fields and woodlands give it a more bucolic character than the suburban municipalities immediately east.

The Camino del Norte passes through or near Mompía on the coastal section heading toward the Piélagos municipalities and eventually Santillana del Mar.
