Description

Edit

Moas de Abaixo is a small locality in the municipality of Santiago de Compostela, in the province of A Coruña, Galicia. It lies on the western slope descending from the city, in the forested and scrub-covered terrain that characterises the opening stages of the Camino de Fisterra and Muxía routes.

The de Abaixo designation indicates the lower of two settlements sharing the Moas name. The surrounding landscape is Galician interior heath and oak woodland, with bracken and gorse covering the more exposed ground. The route here passes from the urban fringe into the first genuinely rural terrain west of Santiago.
