Marmiz

Marmiz is a small locality in the Bizkaia interior on the Camino del Norte route between Mendata and Gernika. It occupies forested hillside terrain in the descent toward the Oka valley, set in the characteristic enclosed green landscape of the Basque Country interior.

The settlement is modest without significant infrastructure, embedded in a landscape of beech and oak woodland, green meadow, and the scattered caserio farmhouses that characterise rural Bizkaia. The route through Marmiz is part of the long inland traverse across Bizkaia between the Gipuzkoa border and the Oka valley.
