Loivo

Loivo is a civil parish in the municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, in the Viana do Castelo district. It occupies elevated terrain on the hillside above the Minho valley, with views across the river toward Galicia. The parish has a traditional Minho agricultural character, with granite construction, vine cultivation on terrace slopes, and the enclosed farmland typical of the lower Minho district.

The elevated position makes Loivo visually distinct from the flat riverside parishes below, with more dynamic terrain and wider views across the valley corridor. The vine terraces and granite farm buildings give the hillside a layered, textured appearance characteristic of the Minho wine-growing slopes.

On the Camino Português, Loivo lies on the inland route between Caminha and Valença, contributing to the sequence of hillside parishes that frame the Minho valley corridor.
