Description
Cuatrovientos is a locality in the province of León on the Camino Frances between Columbrianos and Fuentesnuevas. The name means four winds, indicating a crossroads or open junction point where multiple roads or paths converge.
The settlement has a modest character in the open valley terrain west of Ponferrada, where the landscape is dominated by vineyards and orchards in the Bierzo basin. The crossing of routes gives the locality its navigational identity.
For pilgrims, Cuatrovientos is a passage point on the approach to Cacabelos, the vine country landscape providing an agreeable contrast with the mountain stages above.
