Descripción
Conguedo is a small parish in the municipality of Valença, in the Viana do Castelo district. It occupies the rural agricultural terrain south of Valença town, in the zone approaching the Minho river that marks the Portuguese-Spanish border.
The landscape retains the smallholder farming character of the Minho: granite-walled plots, maize cultivation, vine pergolas, and stone farmhouses. The proximity to Valença gives the area a slightly more travelled quality, as pilgrims and road traffic converge on the border crossing.
Conguedo is one of the final Portuguese rural waypoints on the Camino Português before the route enters Valença and crosses into Spain at Tui.
