Caroi

Caroi is a locality in the municipality of Meis, Pontevedra, Galicia, situated on the elevated ridge between the Pontevedra ría coastline and the interior valley leading to the Armenteira monastery. The ridge position provides some of the wider views available on the Camino Espiritual, with the Pontevedra and Arousa estuaries visible on the northern and western horizons on clear days.

The surrounding terrain is the dense mixed woodland typical of the Galician interior highlands, combining eucalyptus plantation with native oak and chestnut on the more sheltered slopes. The toponym Caroi is of uncertain origin but may relate to an archaic personal name or terrain descriptor common in the Galician rural naming pattern.
