Description

Edit

Boimorto is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, situated on the Camino route between Sobrado dos Monxes and Arzúa. The name, meaning dead bull or dead ox in Galician, is one of the more unusual place names on the Camino, likely recording a specific incident or local legend involving the death of an ox at this site in the medieval period.

The municipality occupies the green rolling terrain of the A Coruña interior, with the pastoral and forested landscape typical of this section of the route. The town of Boimorto provides some services for pilgrims on the approach to the busier stage at Arzúa.
