Arroxo

Arroxo is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the inland Camino del Norte route between Vilanova de Lourenzá and Mondoñedo. The name derives from a Galician word for stream or small watercourse, indicating that the settlement developed beside a minor tributary of the local river network.

The surrounding terrain is the forested and pastoral hill country typical of the Lugo interior between the coastal corridor and the Mondoñedo basin: eucalyptus plantations and oak woodland on the steeper slopes, green pasture in the valley bottoms, and the enclosed humid character of the Galician Atlantic interior.
