Description

Edit

Viscarret, also written Bizkarreta, is a hamlet in the municipality of Erro in Navarra, situated at a minor crossroads in the valley descending from the Pyrenean foothills. The settlement consists of grey stone houses with narrow lanes, typical of the medieval Navarrese mountain village form.

Historically, Viscarret was one of four settlements that together formed the Erroibar commune, a form of collective governance common in medieval Navarra. The surrounding terrain is the transitional zone between the beech forests of the Pyrenees and the drier scrub oak and farmland of the interior.

On the Camino, Viscarret is a passage point with limited services, notable for its authentic stone character and the surrounding valley views.
