Villambistia

Villambistia is a small hamlet in the province of Burgos, Castilla y León, situated on the Camino Frances between Tosantos and Espinosa del Camino. The settlement has a compact stone character with traditional Castilian farmhouses clustered around the parish church of San Esteban.

The surrounding terrain is the rolling foothill country at the base of the Oca mountains, where cereal fields and pasture give way to increasing forest cover on the slopes above. The landscape at Villambistia begins to show the first hints of the oak woodland that will dominate the Montes de Oca crossing ahead.

For pilgrims, Villambistia is a quiet passage point with no services, part of the sequence of small Burgos hamlets before the longer forested crossing that characterises this stage.
