Description
San Martiño is a civil parish in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, one of the most widely venerated saints in Galicia and one whose cult spread through the region with the early Christian monasticism of the fifth and sixth centuries. Many rural parishes across Galicia bear his dedication.
The parish occupies the plateau farming terrain of the Costa da Morte interior on the Fisterra route. The traditional emblem of Saint Martin, his military cloak shared with a beggar, gives the locality a recognisable iconographic identity.
