Rocillo

Rocillo is a small locality in Cantabria, situated in the inland valleys south of the coastal town of Laredo. The name may derive from roca, suggesting rocky terrain in the local topography. The settlement has a modest rural character with stone farmhouses and the enclosed green pastoral landscape typical of the Cantabrian interior.

The surrounding terrain is the green hill and valley country that lies behind the Cantabrian coast, where pasture and woodland alternate with smallholder agricultural plots. The locality sits on one of the inland route variants of the Camino del Norte between Laredo and Noja.
