Descripción
O Seixo is a small locality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino Inglés route. The name is the Galician word for schist or quartzite, directly recording the geology of the local terrain where outcrops of this layered stone are characteristic. Schist and quartzite are common across the Galician interior, where the underlying metamorphic geology produces the flat slab-like rock formations that give certain hillsides and paths their distinctive texture.
The surrounding terrain is the enclosed green valley landscape typical of the A Coruña coast interior, with the rocky outcrops and traditional stone farmhouses of Galician rural settlement.
