Description
Moscavide is a civil parish in the municipality of Loures, bordering Lisbon to the northeast. It occupies the urban fringe of the capital, with a dense residential fabric of apartment buildings and commercial streets typical of the Lisbon suburban belt. The parish developed significantly in the twentieth century as Lisbon expanded outward along the Tagus corridor.
The built environment is predominantly modern, though older neighbourhood cores persist in places. For pilgrims on the Camino Português, Moscavide represents the first urban passage out of the capital, a transitional stretch before the route opens toward the Tagus plain and the Ribatejo beyond.
The locality sits close to the Tagus waterfront, and the river corridor remains a defining geographic presence even through the suburban fabric.
