Descripción
Miradoux is a commune in the Gers department, situated on a hilltop on the Via Podiensis between Auvillar and Lectoure. The village is a thirteenth-century bastide with the regular street pattern and central square typical of the form, and the Gothic church of Saint-Remy provides the principal architectural landmark.
The name suggests a fine view, and the elevated position does offer wide panoramas over the rolling agricultural landscape of the Gers. The surrounding hills are covered in sunflowers, maize, and the occasional Armagnac vineyard, the characteristic crops of the Gascony interior.
