Descripción
Le Villeret d’Apchier is a small locality on the Margeride plateau in the Haute-Loire department, on the Via Podiensis route crossing the high ground between Saugues and Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole. The hamlet occupies the typical high plateau terrain of the Margeride: granite houses, rough pasture, open sky, and the occasional pine windbreak along the track.
Wayside crosses of granite or basalt are a characteristic feature of this section of the plateau, where centuries of pilgrimage have left devotional markers at junctions and on exposed hilltops. The solitude and the elevation give this part of the route a contemplative atmosphere.
