Description

Edit

La Pereda is a small locality in Asturias on the Camino Primitivo route in western Asturias, between Salas and the mountain crossing toward Pola de Allande. The name derives from pera, the Spanish word for pear, with the suffix indicating a place with pear trees or a pear orchard. Pear cultivation is found throughout the sheltered valleys of the Asturian interior.

The surrounding terrain has the enclosed humid quality of the western Asturian valleys, with mixed orchards, pasture, and stone farmhouses. The locality falls on the ascent toward the more exposed mountain terrain ahead.
