Goikolexea

Goikolexea is a small locality in the municipality of Larrabetzu, in the province of Bizkaia in the Basque Country. It sits in the forested valley terrain descending from the interior ridges toward the Larrabetzu basin, in the enclosed green landscape typical of rural Bizkaia.

The settlement has a dispersed character with traditional Basque caserio farmhouses set among meadow and woodland. The surrounding slopes carry the mixed beech and oak forest that covers much of the Bizkaia interior at this elevation.

For pilgrims on the Camino del Norte, Goikolexea is a passage point in the forested descent toward Larrabetzu on the approach to Bilbao.
