Fene

Fene is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, situated on the southern shore of the Ría de Ferrol opposite the naval base. The municipality developed in close association with the Astano shipyard complex, one of the largest shipbuilding facilities in Spain during the twentieth century, whose cranes and dry docks dominated the ría skyline.

Despite its industrial identity, the inland terrain of Fene has a green enclosed valley character typical of the A Coruña coast hinterland. The Camino Inglés passes through the Fene area on the section heading south from the Ferrol ría toward Pontedeume and the River Eume valley.
