El Ribon

El Ribón is a small locality in the municipality of Valdés, in Asturias, on the exposed western Asturian clifftop between Cudillero and Luarca. This section of the Camino del Norte is one of the most remote and challenging on the Asturian coast, with limited services and the route following the cliff edge through open Atlantic heathland.

The surrounding terrain is exposed limestone and heath, with the Atlantic below and no significant shelter from the westerly winds. For pilgrims, this stage between Cudillero and Luarca is often cited as one of the most physically demanding and scenically exceptional of the entire Camino del Norte.
