Description
Condom is a commune in the Gers department, situated on the Baise river and serving as a major service hub on the Via Podiensis. The town is the principal centre of the Armagnac brandy appellation, the oldest designated brandy region in France, and the Musee de l’Armagnac occupies the bishop’s stable building beside the cathedral.
The Cathedral of Saint-Pierre is a fifteenth-century Flamboyant Gothic structure of considerable scale. The surrounding Gers landscape is the heart of Armagnac production, where old vineyards and distilleries dot the rolling hills. For pilgrims, Condom provides full urban services in a historic and gastronomically distinctive setting.
