Description

Edit

Colinas de Arriba is a small locality in the municipality of Allande, in Asturias, on the Camino Primitivo route on the high mountain terrain above Pola de Allande. The name means the upper hills, the de Arriba designation indicating the higher of two hill settlements in the area.

The setting is the exposed upper mountain terrain of western Asturias, where the route crosses the highest ground of this section before the descent toward Pola de Allande. The combination of open ridge views, heath scrub, and the descent ahead makes this one of the more dramatic passage points of the Camino Primitivo mountain stage.
