Camponaraya

Camponaraya is a municipality in the province of León, Castilla y León, situated in the Bierzo valley on the Camino Frances between Fuentesnuevas and Cacabelos. The town is one of the larger Bierzo wine villages, with cooperative cellars and winery infrastructure reflecting the importance of the Mencía grape to the local economy.

The surrounding landscape is the Bierzo wine country at its most characteristic: ordered vine rows on the valley slopes, the red clay and slate soil of the appellation, and the mountain ring of the Bierzo basin visible in all directions. The town has a commercial character with services for pilgrims.
