Description
Boente is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino Frances between Melide and Ribadiso. The village has a compact agricultural character with the church of Santiago de Boente providing the main landmark, a simple structure whose dedication to Saint James makes it one of the many Santiago-dedicated churches along the Camino Frances.
The surrounding landscape is the rolling green farmland typical of the A Coruña interior, with the gentle undulating terrain providing easy walking and the enclosed valley quality familiar from the preceding Galician stages. The village sits on a slight rise above the surrounding farmland.
For pilgrims, Boente is a mid-stage passage point between Melide and Ribadiso, with limited services but the pleasant rolling green landscape that characterises this final corridor to Santiago.
