Description

Edit

Boadilla del Camino is a municipality in the province of Palencia, Castilla y León, situated on the Camino Frances in the Tierra de Campos plain between Itero de la Vega and Frómista. The village is notable for two specific features: the Rollo de Justicia, a Gothic column or judicial pillar of the fifteenth century bearing carved decoration, which stood in the Plaza Mayor as a symbol of the local lord’s juridical authority, and access to the Canal de Castilla.

The Canal de Castilla, an eighteenth-century engineering project that connected the Castilian grain belt to the ports of Santander and Bilbao, runs near the village, and the route south toward Frómista follows the canal towpath.

For pilgrims, Boadilla offers full services in a pleasant Campos village and the transition to the canal path, one of the most distinctive stretches of the Palencia stages.
