Descripción
Berbes is a small locality in the municipality of Ribadesella, in Asturias, situated on the clifftop coastal terrain west of the town. The village overlooks a small beach cove between limestone headlands, typical of the sheltered bays that punctuate the otherwise rugged Asturian cliff coast at this point.
The surrounding terrain is the limestone karst coastal formation characteristic of the area between Ribadesella and Colunga, with sea caves, tidal platforms, and the dramatic cliff profiles created by the Atlantic erosion of the calcareous rock. The Camino del Norte passes through or near Berbes on the clifftop path heading westward along this geologically rich stretch of coast.
