Descripción
Arroyo San Bol is a seasonal stream and rest point on the Meseta plain in the province of Burgos, Castilla y León, situated on the Camino Frances between Hornillos del Camino and Hontanas. The site takes its name from the stream and from a former hermitage or chapel of San Baudel that once stood here.
On the open Meseta, water sources are scarce and the arroyo historically marked an important waypoint. A stone trough and fountain at the site have provided water for pilgrims and animals for centuries, and a simple shelter has been established in recent decades.
For pilgrims, Arroyo San Bol is one of the few resting points on the long exposed plain between Hornillos and Hontanas, its modest infrastructure taking on importance precisely because of the bareness of the surrounding landscape.
