Description

Edit

Argoños is a municipality in Cantabria situated in the coastal plain of the Santoña marshes natural park, between the Santoña peninsula and the coastal villages of Noja and Isla. The municipality lies in flat marshland and dune terrain within the protected wetland system, one of the most important in Spain for wintering waterbirds.

The landscape is open and low-lying, dominated by the marshes, tidal channels, and the low dune ridges that separate the inner wetland from the Atlantic shore. The protected status of the area preserves the natural character of this stretch of the Cantabrian coast.

The Camino del Norte passes through the Argoños area on the coastal natural park section approaching Noja, where the route alternates between the beach edge and the dune and marsh terrain.
