Adões

Adões is a civil parish in the municipality of Mealhada, in the Aveiro district, situated at the boundary between the Coimbra and Aveiro districts. The locality occupies the flat to gently rolling terrain of the Mondego corridor at the point where the route begins to enter the Aveiro district and the landscape starts to shift toward the hillier interior.

The village has a modest residential and agricultural character, with cereal fields, market gardens, and patches of woodland in the surrounding land. The transition between the flat Coimbra plain and the more varied Aveiro terrain is perceptible here.

For pilgrims on the Camino Português, Adões marks the entry into the Aveiro district, a significant geographic transition on the northward route between Coimbra and Porto.
