Xuviño

Xuviño is a small locality in the municipality of Meis, Pontevedra, Galicia, on the Camino Espiritual route between the coastal stretch of the Pontevedra ría and the interior valley leading to the Monasterio de Armenteira. The name may derive from an archaic Galician toponym.

The surrounding terrain transitions from the coastal hinterland to the more enclosed inland valley of the Umia watershed, with eucalyptus and oak woodland covering the hillsides. The route through Xuviño climbs from the coastal zone toward the higher terrain that surrounds the Armenteira monastery, passing through a landscape of mixed woodland and traditional Galician farmsteads.
