Descripción
Soano is a small locality in the municipality of Bareyo, in Cantabria, situated in the inland terrain between the coastal villages of Noja and Isla. The settlement has a modest rural character with stone farmhouses and the enclosed pastoral landscape of the Cantabrian coast interior.
The surrounding landscape alternates between pasture, mixed woodland, and the coastal headland terrain visible to the north. The route through Soano on the Camino del Norte is one of the inland sections that connects the coastal villages of this stretch while avoiding some of the cliff and beach terrain.
The green enclosed valleys and the quiet agricultural character of Soano contrast with the beach resort environments of the adjacent coastal settlements.
