San Pedro da Torre

San Pedro da Torre is a small locality in the province of Lugo, Galicia, on the Camino del Norte inland route approaching Mondoñedo. The name, meaning Saint Peter of the Tower, suggests both a church dedication and the former presence of a defensive tower on the hillside, a combination found at several sites along the medieval road network of the Lugo interior.

The surrounding terrain is the forested hill country of the upper Mondoñedo basin approach, with eucalyptus plantation and oak woodland on the slopes and green pasture in the sheltered valleys. The route from this area descends toward the historic episcopal city of Mondoñedo in the valley below.
