Descripción
Quintáns is a small locality in the municipality of Dumbría or the adjacent area, in the province of A Coruña, Galicia, on the Camino de Fisterra and Muxía routes. The name is a common Galician toponym derived from the Latin quintana, meaning a farmstead or fifth part of land, referring to a land tenure unit in the medieval system.
The locality sits in the open agricultural and forested landscape of the Costa da Morte interior, in the final inland stages before the route reaches the coast. Like many small hamlets on this route, it has a traditional stone character without prominent monuments.
